While May 22 was the official 10th anniversary of Dragon’s Dogma’s release, Capcom has designated the entire month of May as a celebration of 10 years since the game’s creation. This news comes from a new website unveiled by the publisher to celebrate Dragon’s Dogma and its anniversary. The website first gives players a short trailer showing off gameplay of Dragon’s Dogma before treating fans to a message thanking them for taking up arms against Grigori.

“We are forever grateful for your support throughout the years,” reads the website’s homepage, “and hope you will join us in this momentous celebration of Dragon’s Dogma!” There isn’t much information on what the momentous celebration will include, but fans are anticipating a potential announcement of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Considering that the first game came out nearly ten years ago and the Summer Game Fest to replace this year’s E3 is on the way, it is possible that Capcom is gearing up for a sequel announcement.
Other fans were less hopeful about the possibility of a Dragon’s Dogma sequel. While they believed an announcement was on the way thanks to the website, they feel that Capcom will simply re-release a version of Dragon’s Dogma on newer consoles. The game has gone through a fair amount of re-releases. Back in 2013, Dragon’s Dogma released Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, an enhanced version of the original game that was later ported to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2016. PC specifically allowed for the most changes to the original Dragon’s Dogma formula thanks to the modding capability of the platform.
Whether there will be an announcement for Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently unknown. However, it is likely that Capcom will reveal something at this year’s Summer Game Fest to match the showings of Xbox, Bethesda, and Sony. No matter the result, Dragon’s Dogma will remain a well-loved game that helped begin the trend of difficult fantasy games similar to Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
Dragon’s Dogma is available now for PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One
