That may be changing, however, and soon. Capcom’s COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto revealed recently that the company is looking to focus more on the PC platform, feeling that they may have overlooked that market in the past.

Despite later launch dates, PC sales for Capcom have done well. Most recently, Monster Hunter: World, which launched on the platform back in August of 2018, over half a year after the launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox On performed exceptionally well. In fact, it was said to have “greatly exceeded expectations.” And with that, along with what seem to be good numbers for the Resident Evil 2 remake, the company feels that there’s a big market that they’ve been missing out on for years.

In regards to focusing more on this newly found fanbase, Tsujimoto said:

Capcom has had two major hits recently between Monster Hunter: World and Resident Evil 2, and they don’t plan on stopping their momentum anytime soon. With Devil May Cry scheduled to release on March 8th, a week from this Friday, it can only be assumed that Capcom’s numbers will continue to rise.

As for what they plan on doing to focus more on PC gaming, it’s unclear. Does this mean we’ll see titles strictly for that platform? Could we see them focus on better ports for games, or possibly earlier releases on the platform? We’ll have to wait and see what the developer does over the next few years, but this is definitely a good move for Capcom.
