According to a recent Capcom financial presentation, it seems the company is looking to launch an astounding amount of games by the end of the fiscal year, which, as many will know, concludes in March 2021. This is supposedly due to the company wanting to achieve a new sales record during this time, which it estimates could be around “28 million units.”

The financial presentation - which can be found online - details exactly how the company intends to achieve these astonishing sales figures, with Capcom claiming that one of its “growth strategies” is to release “multiple major new titles.” The presentation later claims that there will be 13 “new titles (SKU),” which likely means stock keeping unit. With Resident Evil 3 dropping last month, that likely already covers 3 SKU, with the game releasing on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, leaving 10 slots left for future titles.
Naturally, Capcom has a lot of franchises under its belt, ranging from more prevalent IPs like Devil May Cry and Monster Hunter to currently dormant names like Dead Rising and Dino Crisis. However, it seems more than likely that another Resident Evil game could take several of these slots, especially with news swirling that an eighth game could be making its way to consoles next year. Assuming the title falls into the same early year spot that both Resident Evil 2 and 3 have over previous years, this could potentially be even more proof that Capcom is working on the next mainline entry in the franchise and that it will be in fans’ hands before March 2021.
Alongside that, rumors have also placed a divisive Resident Evil 4 remake as being in production over at Capcom following the success of Resident Evil 2 and 3. Although it’s unlikely that one of these mystery games will be the remake, it does seem that Capcom is working hard on pushing out major Resident Evil releases on an annual basis, so there’s a slim chance this future game could be that instead. Regardless, fans will now be watching Capcom with bated breath to see what the company does next.
