The draws for the third round of the League Cup were made right after the second round matches ended.
Manchester United, subject to a 4-0 loss at the hands of MK Dons were one of the six Premier League casualties not taking part in the draw. The others were Queens Park Rangers, West Ham United, Burnley, Aston Villa, and Leicester City.
The draw saw a number of Premier League sides facing each other. Arsenal will face Southampton, Crystal Palace have been clubbed against Newcastle United, Sunderland will play Stoke City and Swansea will welcome Everton. Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and Manchester City will face Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.
