Canelo (WBA, WBC and The Ring) and Saunders (WBO) will put their super middleweight titles on the line in an attempt to unify the title. Whoever wins Saturday’s match will likely turn to Caleb Plant, owner of the IBF belt, in September. But first, the matter at hand. Canelo (55-1-2, 37 KOs) will look for his seventh consecutive victory after his split-decision draw with Gennadiy Golovkin in September 2017. Saunders (30-0, 14 KOs) will risk his undefeated record in an attempt to claim Canelo’s belts....

Today, Capcom dropped the latest trailer for Project Resistance. Street Fighter 6 seems to be fully leaning into hip-hop music and culture influences in order to focus the game for a new generation while paying respects to its own history. This is evident in the roster, which is solid mix of new and returning characters, and in the game’s unique art style. Capcom has combined traditional breakdancing and the drunken fist martial arts style to create Jaime, a character described as “self-styled” on the game’s official website....

Karl Rove showed misplaced indignation when asked about his meeting with Intel Corp. executives seeking help with a merger. Rove, who owned $100,000 of the company’s stock at the time and stood to gain financially if the merger went through, surely must appreciate the delicacy of his situation. As a 45-year-old who just left his job, I read George Soros’s assessment of the world economy with concern (“The Crisis of Global Capitalism,” The World Economy, Feb. 1). Soros predicts that Thailand and South Korea will linger in depression and Malaysia will fail as a result of shutting itself off. He calls for radical changes in the economies “at the center.” Soros himself has an impeccable record of unashamedly profiting from making self-fulfilling prophecies....

Volpato, 18, made headlines this week after ultimately turning down Australia coach Graham Arnold’s repeated attempts to get him to Qatar in green and gold. Raymundo Beltran has made Arizona his home since coming to America. On Saturday, in an ESPN-televised main event, Beltran was making the first defense of his WBO 135-pound title against Jose Pedraza of Puerto Rico. He was hoping for a successful homecoming, but Pedraza had other plans. In a see-saw but tentative fight, Pedraza (25-1, 12 KOs) managed to secure a unanimous decision win to earn his second title in as many weight classes....

The bill, called the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act, passed the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support in a 94-1 vote. Its lead sponsor Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI), who was the first Asian American woman elected to the Senate, said the passage showed the Senate “rejects anti-Asian hate.” Hawley took to Twitter to explain his vote, after being the lone holdout opposing passage through the upper chamber. “My big problem with Sen Hirono’s bill that Senate voted on today is that it turns the federal government into the speech police - gives government sweeping authority to decide what counts as offensive speech and then monitor it,” Hawley wrote....

The Hornets are hoping he'll stay put. McRoberts opted out of his contract with the Hornets on Wednesday making him a free agent, but general manager Rich Cho said the team hopes to bring back the 6-foot-10 power forward. "He was a big part of our team and we definitely want to re-sign him," Cho said at a pre-draft press conference at the team's downtown arena. "He helped Kemba (Walker) and he helped Big Al (Jefferson)....
