ESPN’s Mike Coppinger reported Wednesday that Alvarez is finalizing a two-fight, $85 million contract with Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn. One fight would be against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol in May; the other would be against Golovkin in September. The fight vs. GGG depends on Alvarez beating Bivol and Golovkin beating Ryota Murata this year. Alvarez recently unified the super middleweight division in just 11 months. The biggest name in boxing returns to the ring in his quest for history, as unified middleweight champion and WBA (regular) super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez moves up two weight classes to challenge WBO light heavyweight titlist Sergey Kovalev on Saturday, Nov. 2, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, live and exclusively on DAZN. A win by Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) would make him a four-division world champion and put him in the conversation of all-time great Mexican boxers....

In 2019, he challenged Sergey Kovalev for the WBO Light Heavyweight Title, which he won. The officer, Michael A. Riley, is accused of telling someone who allegedly participated in the riot to remove posts from Facebook that showed him inside the Capitol building during the riots on January 6, according to court documents. According to the complaint, Riley told the rioter that the scene was a “total s—show,” and wrote, “I’m glad you got out of there unscathed.” The man responded through messaging that he didn’t think he’d done anything wrong, and Riley replied: “The only thing I can see is if you went into the building and they have proof you will be charged....
